Happy New Year to everyone!
Last year was a very busy year for CINF. Under the able leadership of Pamela Scott (2004 Chair) we revised our
mission to better meet today's information needs, held long-range planning meetings, and adopted the LABA Division.
Your CINF committees have been very active in the ACS. Our program committee has worked hard to ensure
programming that would be of interest to the CINF members. We have had good attendance at our sessions held at the
National Meetings. In addition, all of our committees have been working hard to reach out to work with other
committees to co-sponsor programs and sessions, such as ones we held in Philadelphia with the Women in Chemistry,
and the ACS Committee on Science. We continue to run workshops on teaching chemical information. We support
National Chemistry Week.
In San Diego some CINF committee members and officers will be meeting with the German CIC group. This is the
equivalent of CINF in Germany. The purpose of the meeting is to address issues of importance to both divisions. This
effort aligns with the ACS overall effort to develop closer relationships with chemical societies in Europe.
Towards the end of last year I was busy planning for our San Diego meeting. On Saturday, March 12th we will
hold a breakfast meeting that is open to any CINF member interested in serving on a committee; and helping us with
our long range planning. If you will be in San Diego before the ACS meeting please consider joining your Officers
and CINF Committee Members for Saturday morning breakfast. The committee meetings will take place immediately
following the breakfast meeting. A complete schedule can be found in this edition of CIB, page 10.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many volunteers that make CINF run so effectively. Without their
dedicated support and assistance, my job would be impossible. I am looking forward to a great meeting in San Diego.
As a Division Member, please plan to come out and support our technical sessions, attend our social events, and our
Divisional Luncheon. All promise to be exceptional!
And finally, for those of you I have not yet met, please come up to me in San Diego and share your ideas for the
future of the Division.
See you in San Diego! Eileen Shanbrom, Division Chair firstname.lastname@example.org
