Many people supported me in my endeavors to complete this paper. The
patience and constructive guidance of Dr. Huffman was invaluable to me achieving this
goal. As my major professor, she was instrumental in providing the necessary
encouragement as I accomplished each small step in the completion process. Without
her continued support and her caring attitude, I would not have believed that I could
accomplish such a task.
I would also like to thank my other committee members, Dr. Stromberg and Dr.
Ennis-Cole, for their assistance in completing this research. I appreciate their availability
to meet at the various needed times, especially considering the time constraints I often
faced during this project. I thank them for their support.
The one person who continually provided me strength was my husband. He
encouraged me whenever I felt that the task was overwhelming and wanted to quit. His
patience and confidence helped me to persevere. John, I just want to let you know that I

understanding, especially when I was unable to spend time with them. To my mother
