Description

"Culottes dress" of orange, white, and yellow silk petals over white crepe. The garment is constructed as a pair of white crepe mini-culottes with attached sleeveless overdress in the style of a pinafore of net covered in orange, white and yellow silk petals. Wide, rounded neckline scoops in back. Attached cream satin ribbon sash wraps around waist to back to form a bow, and closes with 2 hook & eyes. Over-skirt opens in back from waist to hem. This object was part of the Dallas Museum of Fashion collection. Founded in 1960 by the Fashion Group, Inc. of Dallas, the collection comprised important items of historic and current fashion. It was housed in the Apparel Mart, Dallas, and operated as the Dallas Museum of Fashion from 1960 until 1971. It moved to what was then North Texas State University in 1972, and became the Texas Fashion Collection.
