Abstract: The rate constant for the reaction of H atoms with phenyl iodide has been measured using the laser flash-photolysis technique with detection of H by resonance fluorescence. The data over 295–907 K are summarized by the expression k = 1.45 × 10−18 T2.50exp(74/T) cm3 molecule−1 s−1 with a 95% confidence limit for k of ±8%. Ab initio analysis suggests the dominant products are phenyl and hydrogen iodide.
