Abstract: Experimental solubilities are reported for pyrene dissolved in eight binary mixtures containing 2-methyl-2-butanol and alcohol (1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1-butanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 1-pentanol, 2-pentanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol, or 4-methyl-2-pentanol) at 26 °C. Results of these measurements are used to test two mathematical representations based upon the combined nearly ideal binary solvent (NIBS)/Redlich−Kister and modified Wilson equations. For the eight systems studied, both equations were found to provide an accurate mathematical representation of the experimental data, with an overall average absolute deviation between measured and calculated values being 0.3% and 0.4% for the combined NIBS/Redlich−Kister and modified Wilson equations, respectively. Also reported are experimental solubilities for pyrene dissolved in 2-methoxyethanol, 2-ethoxyethanol, 2-propoxyethanol, 2-butoxyethanol, and 3-methoxy-1-butanol.
