Description

Cartwheel hat of natural Milan straw. The low, cylindrical crown is flattened at top, and is encircled by a wide band of deep golden orange velvet with large bow at back. The wide, flat brim has stiffening at outer edge. The hat is unlined, with an inner straw-yellow grosgrain ribbon hatband. Designer's label inside: "Sally Victor / 18 East 53rd St."

Notes

The hat has a label for Sally Victor of New York, USA, but the donor stated that the hat was designed by John Fredericks of New York. It is possible that a label was changed, or that one designer created something based on the work of another.
