Abstract: The recently completed Simon Bucharoff Collection at the University of North Texas provides an effective example of how music special collections support the educational mission of the university and facilitate original research. Organizing the Bucharoff Collection has also filled in many gaps in his biographical information, and uncovered a dramatic story of a promising artist frustrated at nearly every turn. This article outlines the collection's provenance and arrangement, offers an updated and expanded biography, and discusses the description of and access to the collection.
