2. The teachers' perception of organizational climate
as measured by the OCDQ appeared to vary widely from school
to school.
3. The principals1 perception of organizational cli-
mate as measured by the OCDQ appeared to be established and
stable throughout the school year.
The following recommendations were made: (1) further
research and study of each of the dimensions of climate to
refine and delineate the commonalities of the climate
dimensions. (2) A thorough understanding of the variables
of climate dimensions as perceived by the teachers and
principals in each organization should precede any studies
of organizational climate or studies involving the techni-
ques for instituting change in the organizational climate of
a school. (3) Additional study is recommended in the area of
affecting change in organizational climate in elementary
schools where the principal has tenure of at least two
years. The findings of this study appear to support the
concept that organizational climate change may need to be
imposed from outside the system. (4) It is recommended in
future studies of organizational climate an addendum con-
taining items of local, state, and national concern be added
to the questionnaire. This addition would allow detection
of changes in perceptions of organizational climate affected
by more specific and current concerns.
