Lent by Senora de Osborne to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 1972 Balenciaga exhibit.

Donor writes: "Here is my famous 'Bird of Paradise' hat. I sent once the picture of this hat to Miss Laura. No one else had this made. It cost a fortune and must live pinned to the mold in its round box if not on the head of a Model. Please treasure this."
