MEBICICLOL is actually 3
agents (60 mg mebendazole, 200
mg niclosamide, and 300 mg
tinidazole) combined in one tablet
designed to drive the parasites that cause crypto out
of the digestive tract for good. Take 3 tablets per
day for 6 days, skip a day, then repeat for another 3
weeks. Follow up with one week per month to
prevent recurrence.
NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) is an
amino acid that engages in direct
free-radical scavenging activity,
and induces biosynthesis of the
antioxidant glutathione (GSH). GSH is critical to
immunological competence, and if GSH production
were NAC's only function, it would be well worth
its low cost. It has had success in enhancing the
formation of T cell colonies in some immune-
suppressed individuals with a protocol of
approximately 3 tablets per day.
PENTAMIDINE is the
aerosolized therapy for PCP
(Pneumocystis carnii pneumonia).
Many people use Bactrim and
achieve good results, but unfortunately, there are
many others who cannot tolerate the sulfa
compounds. "Pentam" can help such people
considerably, especially if T cell counts are low.
One dose lasts from four to six weeks. (Kit for self-
administration is also available.)
PENTOSAN POLYSULFATE, a
sulfated polysaccharide, has been
used in Europe for over thirty
years as an anti-coagulant. It is
used primarily for the treatment of KS (Kaposi's
Sarcoma) because of its anti-tumor activity, but it
has also shown promise as a reverse transcriptase
inhibitor. The usual dosage is 10 tablets per day.PEPTIDE T is a synthetic peptide
composed of eight amino acids
designed to mimic vasoactive
intestinal peptide (VIP), a natural
hormone which normally interacts with CD4s.
Peptide T is a prophylactic that covers the CD4
receptor sites and prevents HIV cells from attaching
themselves to uninfected cells, thus preventing the
virus from spreading. It has the ability to cross the
blood-brain barrier which explains its effectiveness
against the neurological problems associated with
HIV (central neuropathy, dementia, etc.).
PSYCHOTONIN M is a liquid
form of hypericin, the antiviral
that occurs naturally in the herb
St. John's Wort. It works by
sabotaging the HIV cells and inhibiting the budding
and assembly of HIV virions as they prepare to
replicate and infect other cells. The
recommendation is to use 20-30 drops 1-4 times
daily in conjunction with another antiviral.
RIBAVIRIN is a broad-spectrum
analogue that has been approved
by the FDA for viral infections in
infants only. It has done great
things for CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)
patients (more energy, better appetite, etc.), and it
has shown an ti-HIV properties as well.
ROXITHROMYCIN is one of
the toughest antibiotics around. It
is a member of the macrolide
family and has a wide target area,
but its main success has been against
Cryptosporidium.
