Poem of the Fledgling Year
In the fledgling year I ask myself
if the first grass on the riverbed
is enchantment again
if day is a miracle
of rose light
A sea of shadows
lodges its bitter turquoise
The horizon no longer opens up
to the joy of glorious constellations
it closes in a fistful of days
restricts its arch
and there our soft love of things
Here’s what’s next.
