Description

This is a video of a sheep being sacrificed during an ancestral ritual called phala. The ritual is held when a new house is built and periodically thereafter, every few years. This video records the ritual conducted in the Uiya Ghale community. In their community, the heart of the sheep is taken away while the sheep is alive and the heart is dedicated to the ancestors.
