Description

Photograph of the Republic Square (Plaza de La República) in Campeche, Mexico. The Sea Gate (Puerta de Mar) is present on the right side of the plaza just across the street from the other buildings. The gate was one of four built in the 18th century along with a wall in order to defend the city from pirate attacks. The Eagle Monument (Monumento del Águila) can be seen in the background on the left. The Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral (Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción) is also visible in the distance.
