Re: CANNON AIR FORCE BASE ON CLOSURE LIST
HONORABLE COMMISSIONERS:
Our City and Community, as well as Portales, Roosevelt Coutty, Cities of Amarillo and
Lubbock, Texas were all shocked to hear CANNON is on the 'closure list.
It is nr ost difficult to understand why, as CANNON has riet, f fact exceeded the requirements
of the Pentagon Officials who developed the closure list. MiPions of dollars lhae been spent
recently ont expanding the fire .station, hospital, runway and he o ierpass.
It will be very devastating and far reaching for us, eve: clositgq one of our schools that
mostly children of CANNON attends.
All consideration possible should be given to removing CAN ON front the list. We are all human
and can make a mistake, and I certainly feel a human error w.as made when CANNON was
placed on the list.
I'm looking forward to attending jour meeting ini Clovis t exrtnolrth.
Sit cerely;
