Thank you for taking the time to visit New Mexico and Cannon Air Force Base.
Though your schedule prevented you from taking part in the hearing, I want to personally
thank you for attending the site visit.
By coming to visit us, we were able to show you what Cannon means to New Mexico and
to West Texas. Throughout your visit, I hope we made the case that our wide-open
airspace, lack of encroachment and clear flying weather should make Cannon a
candidate for expansion and not closure.
I grew up in eastern New Mexico. I have seen the devastation wrought by base closures.
