Federal Communications Commission Record DA 86Released: December 24, 1986
By the Chief, Allocations Branch:
1. The Commission has before it the Notice of Proposed
Rule Making, 51 Fed. Reg. 24172, published July 2, 1986,
which proposed the allotment of Channel 268A to Meredith,
New Hampshire, as the community's first local FM
service, at the request of Harvest Broadcasting Services
("petitioner"). Comments supporting the allotment were
filed by the petitioner ' and by William Forbes. No
oppositions were received.
2. Channel 268A can be allocated to Meredith in compliance
with the Commission's minimum distance separation
and other technical requirements without the
imposition of a site restriction. We believe the public
interest would be served by allocating the channel, as
proposed, since it could provide Meredith with its first
local service. Canadian concurrence in the allotment has
been received since the community is located within 320
kilometers (200 miles) of the U.S.-Canadian border.
3. Accordingly, pursuant to the authority contained in
Sections 4(i), 5(c)(1), 303(g) and (r) and 307(b) of the
Communications Act of 1934, as amended, and Sections
0.61, 0.204(b) and 0.283 of the Commission's Rules, IT
IS ORDERED, That effective February 6, 1987, the FM
Table of Allotments, Section 73.202(b) of the Rules, IS
AMENDED, for the community listed below, to read as
City Channel No.
Meredith, New Hampshire 268A
4. The window period for filing applications will open
on February 9, 1987, and close on March 9, 1987.
