Re: Application of Southern Bell Telephone Company
to Acquire Substantially all of the Property of Central
Telephone Company of Florida in Starke, Kingsley Lake
and Lawtey, Florida; FCC File No. ENF-87-6
Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company has
filed for authority to acquire substantially all of the properties
and assets used in providing local telephone exchange
service in Starke, Kingsley Lake and Lawtey,
Florida from Central Telephone Company of Florida
(Centel), a communications carrier operating exclusively
in the state of Florida. Southern Bell, a BellSouth company,.
provides telecommunications services in the states
of Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.
As part of the transaction, Centel will acquire substantially
all of the properties used by Southern Bell in
connection with its telephone exchange service business
in Havana and Graceville, Florida. The proposed transaction
will not result in any change in Southern Bell's or
Centel's status within the meaning of the Communications

be acceptable for filing. The Commission reserves the
right to return the Application if, upon further examination.
it is determined that it is defective and not in
conformance with the Commission's Rules, Regulations
and Policies. All filings concerning this Application
should refer to File No. ENF-87-6.
Comments or petitions may be filed concerning this
Application within 30 days of the date of this notice.
Final action on this Application will not be taken prior
to receipt and consideration of such submissions.
