Brigadier General Sue E. Turner:
We are very concerned about the BRAC Commission's decision to close Cannon Air
Force Base.
Cannon offers many unique attributes to our national defense. These include an abundance
of air space and no encroachment issues, a bombing range that is only seconds away, the
airspace to fly at supersonic speeds, and ideal year-round flying weather.
Also if Cannon was to close it would have a big impact on our community. We are a very
small community and the base and it's personnel is a VERY big part of us. It is estimated
that the area will lose at least 20 percent of its workforce, plus the ripple effect that it will
have on the communities around us.
Please reconsider all the facts before making your final decision.
Respectfully yours,
Wayie and Erma Mize_ _
