"U.S. Government Printing Office : 1943-O-520466"

This copy (copy 1) of the poster is accompanied by a card with the following text printed in black: "YOU CAN HELP TO KEEP OUR NATION WELL FED BY DISPLAYING THIS POSTER. Military needs are taking more of our commercially canned food this year than any other since the war began. This means there will be less left for civilians in this country. We must look to American women to make up the difference by canning more food at home. This poster will help to encourage home canning thus assuring our citizens of more of the foods they will need next winter. Will you help to keep our Nation well-fed by displaying it prominently? THANK YOU!"
