Abstract: Semantic relations have many applications in ontology construction and knowledge discovery, but are rarely studied. This paper characterizes the Ontobee relations ontology in the biomedical science domain with comparisons to the Conflict and Mediation Event Observation (CAMEO) relations taxonomy and the UMLS semantic network relations. The findings can be used to understand and build domain-specific semantic relations taxonomies for codifying domain knowledge.
