All Research and Engineering Operation personnel engaged in work that might
reasonably be expected, to result in inventions or discoveries advise that,
to the best of thsir knowledge and belief, no inventions or discoveries where
made in the course of their work during July, 1957. Such persons further
advise that, for the period therein covered by this report, notebook records,
if any, kept in the course of their work have been examined for possible
inventions or discoveries.
BUSINESS TRIPS AND VISITORS
H. H. Hopkins, Jr., Manager 234-5 Development Operation and R. A. Schneider
of Process 'Chemistry Operation visited Mr. W. K. Eister and Dr. F. R. Bruce
of the Oak Ridge National laboratory on July 1, 1957 to exchange technical
information. Mr. Hopkins also visited Drs. F. G. Foote, B. Blumenthal and
S. Iawroski on July 2 and 3, 1957 to exchange technical information.
K. M. Harmon, Manager Process Chemistry Operation visited Mr. L. 0. Binder
at the Montana State College, Bozeman, Montana on July 26, 1957 to present a
talk before members of the Fourth Chemistry Institute, Rocky Mt. Session.
Edward Schmidt of Schenectady visited Messrs. Richards and Irish on
July 2 and 3, 1957 to obtain information for the Chemical Engineering
F. T. Selleck and E. F. Edwards of the Fluor Company, and Ray Walton and
J. I. Stevens of the AEC-Idaho Falls and Phillips Petrnleum Co., res-
pectively, visited Messrs. R. E. Tomlinson, A. M. Platt; B. F. Judson,
M. J. Szulinski and R. G. Barnes on July 22, 1957 to d ,sas problems associated
with calcination of radioactive waste.
Dr. G. A. Burney and E. L. Field visited Messrs. H. H. LPigkins, Jr.,
L. I. Brecke and R. E. Smith on July 29, 30 and 31, 1957 to exchange
technical information; also visited E. R. Irish on July 31, 1957 to
discuss Purex process and Ion Exchange.
