Video of Evilu Pridgeon, Grand Marshal of the 2015 Dallas Pride Parade, speaking at Outrageous Oral. During the session she speaks about her experiences attending college and later in the Dallas LGBT community and her volunteer work with OLCS during the AIDS/HIV epidemic and remembers when it was incorrectly labeled GRIDS (Gay-Related Immune Deficiency Syndrome). She shares stories of protests and traveling to marches and her time in the closet while teaching in the Dallas Independent School District while peers were outed and eventually challenged and overturned the laws in Texas.

Notes

Alan Ross passed in 1995 due to AIDS and the parade was renamed the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade by the Dallas Tavern Guild in 1996. Paul Lewis passed in 2014 and was one of the well known faces of the event. The parade in 2015 was dedicated to Lewis.

Outrageous Oral is a quarterly evening of GLBT storytelling hosted by The Dallas Way, a GLBT history organization. Outrageous Oral: Volume 17 was held on Thursday, September 17, 2015, in the Rose Room at S4 in Dallas, Texas.
