Although uranium trioxide is relatively insoluble in water, a substantial quantity will dissolve in uranyl sulfate solutions. The oxide, being basic in nature, raises the PH of the solution. This change of PH has been measured up to 60' C and can, with existing equipment, be measured up to 90"C. No work has been done with glass electrodes above this temperature, and the hydrogen electrode will not function in highly oxidizing media.
