I would not have completed my coursework or dissertation without the support and
encouragement of my children, Glenn and Erica. I want to thank them, my family, my friends,
and my colleagues for clearing the path so that I could pursue my education, complete my
dissertation and move closer to achieving my goals.
I want to thank the President and administrative leadership of the community college
district that agreed to serve as the site of my study. The support of the administrative leadership,
the faculty, and the staff led me to a greater understanding of the importance of my research.
I would like to thank the members of my committee, Dr. Marc Cutright, Dr. Kathleen
Whitson and Dr. Ron Newsom, not only for their support and guidance throughout the
dissertation development and writing process, but also for what they have taught me about being
a scholar, a researcher, a teacher, and an administrator. In particular, I would like to thank Dr.
Cutright for sharing his insights and knowledge and for motivating me to move forward when it
would have been just as easy to let me rest.
