Leaders learn how they can
best serve university
Alumni representing cities in Texas, as well as
Washington, D.C., gathered recently for the third annual
Alumni Leadership Conference.
The purpose of the conference, said Rose Marie
Wilkinson, executive director of advancement, was to
give alumni training in leadership, direction for their
alumni chapters and information about the university.
Staff members in areas such as recruitment, fund rais-
ing, public relations and athletics conducted sessions in
the University Union to help alumni learn about the
university and how their chapters can help.
The conference opened with a dinner hosted by Chan-
cellor and Mrs. Alfred F. Hurley. Larry Brinkley of Dal-
las was moderator, Carol Adcock of Fort Worth intro-
duced the staff and Nancy Pollard of Houston provided
entertainment for the group.
Conference participants were: Robert L. and Mary
Anderson, Dr. Jean Andrews and Henry and Patricia
Keene, all of Austin; Carolyn Booth, Larry Brinkley,
Tricia and Mark Glick, Wayne Pope, Melanie Schuchart,
and Bill and Susan Uhrik, all of Dallas; David Bayless,
Dick and Nancy Bell, Floyd and Helen Everheart and
Burney and Judy Robinson, all of Denison.
Other attendees were: JoAnn Boyd and Tom and Re-
becca Harpool, all of Denton; Carol Adcock, Fort
Worth; Mike Leiser, Dick A. Mills, Dr. J. Marvin and
Chris Xeros listens to proposed rules for the
Nancy Pollard, Robert B. Searcy and Tim Sears and
Priscilla Welch, all of Houston; Robert Burgess, Phala
Finley, Harvey and Betty Holland, Martin and Molly
