The Central Arkansas Section held its
annual meeting as a dinner meeting at
Harding College, Searcy, Arkansas, on
January 1. The speaker was MR. SAMUEL
COTTRELL of the Olin Mathieson Chem-
ical Corporation. He spoke on "Modern
Harding College, Searcy
GARY ACKERS, a senior math-chemistry
major at Harding who has been doing
laboratory research since his freshman
year, has been awarded a United States
Public Health Service research fellowship
at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore,
Md. Last year Gary worked in the Virus
Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C.
He plans a life career in Research work.
The Arkansas State Teachers
Eleven members represented the Stu-
dent affiliate Chapter of American Chem-
ical Society at ASTC, at the ACS Con-
vention held in Oklahoma City.
