Description

The isotope /sup 80/Y, T/sub 1/2// = 34 sec was observed, and a general investigation of the decay properties of several nuclei in this region was carried out. Measurements of the total decay energy of /sup 80/Y and neighboring nuclides serve to explore the interplay between the mass surface and the extent of nuclear deformation as well as providing the first definitive checks of mass theory predictions in this region.
