Description

Underground nuclear explosive tests utilize a nuclear device canister suspended from a canister containing diagnostic equipment. A standard design for these canisters and their connection is being developed by the Nuclear Test Engineering Divisions, Test Systems Section of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Test and analysis of a new bolt configuration for a portion of this bolted canister connection have been carried out and results are presented and compared for channel loads of 100,000 and 200,000 lb.
