title: LIMB Demonstration Project Extension contributor: United States. Department of Energy. publisher: Babcock and Wilcox Co., Barberton, OH (United States) date: 1988-12-15 language: English description: The basic goal of the Limestone Injection Multistage Burner (LIMB) demonstration is to extend LIMB technology development to a full- scale application on a representative wall-fired utility boiler. The successful retrofit of LIMB to an existing boiler is expected to demonstrate that (a) reductions of 50 percent or greater in SO{sub x} and NO{sub x} emissions can be achieved at a fraction of the cost of add-on FGD systems, (b) boiler reliability, operability, and steam production can be maintained at levels existing prior to LIMB retrofit, and (c) technical difficulties attributable to LIMB operation, such as additional slagging and fouling, changes in ash disposal requirements, and an increased particulate load, can be resolved in a cost-effective manner. The primary fuel to be used will be an Ohio bituminous coal having a nominal sulfur content of 3 percent or greater. subject: Staged Combustion subject: Chemical Reactions subject: Surface Properties subject: Sedimentary Rocks subject: Sulfur Dioxide subject: 01 Coal, Lignite, And Peat subject: Desulfurization subject: Oxidation subject: Progress Report subject: Document Types subject: Oxides subject: Air Pollution Control subject: 54 Environmental Sciences subject: Demonstration Programs subject: Flue Gas subject: 200202 -- Fossil-Fueled Power Plants-- Waste Management-- Noxious Gas & Particulate Emissions subject: Chalcogenides subject: Rocks subject: Oxygen Compounds subject: Gaseous Wastes subject: 540120 -- Environment, Atmospheric-- Chemicals Monitoring & Transport-- (1990-) subject: Humidifiers subject: Sorptive Properties subject: 014000 -- Coal, Lignite, & Peat-- Combustion subject: Limestone subject: Sorbent Injection Processes subject: Retrofitting subject: Control subject: Wastes 010800* -- Coal, Lignite, & Peat-- Waste Management subject: Nitrogen Compounds subject: Sulfur Compounds subject: 20 Fossil-Fueled Power Plants subject: Thermochemical Processes subject: Carbonate Rocks subject: Nitrogen Oxides subject: Combustion subject: Sulfur Oxides subject: Denitrification subject: Pollution Control type: Report format: 21 pages format: Text identifier: other: DE92016130 identifier: rep-no: DOE/PC/79798-T22 identifier: grantno: FC22-87PC79798 identifier: doi: 10.2172/5099652 identifier: osti: 5099652 identifier: https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc1061136/ identifier: ark: ark:/67531/metadc1061136
