in this loop, establish a new baseline and
restart the test. This was done. As a
result, all information presented on this
loop is based on running subsequent to the
restart. Loop number 4 contains biphenyl
and has 2200 hours endurance running.
During this reporting period, as a result
of funding and repairing several very small
leaks, the problem of buildup of condenser
pressure had been dramatically reduced. None
of the loops have had to be pulled down in
approximately 1500 hours.
Both the biphenyl and the eutectic have shorn
excellent thermal stability to date. Both
fluids are of very nearly the same quality as
when they were put in the loops. As a result
it was deemed useless to utilize loop number 1
to establish a correlation between detailed
chemical analysis and an "in line" infrared
spectrophotometer scan. During the time allotted
for this test (1000 hours) no measurable degrAda-
tion would have taken place. It was, therefore,
decided to run this loop at 7000F turbine inlet
temperature for at least 1000 hours. Startup
