2. ORDERING REQUIREMENTS
A purchase order was placed with the San Fernando Laboratory to develop a process
for vapor depositing tungsten - 2 percent thoria alloy cups per MESK-00315, illustrated
in Figure 1. The San Fernando Laboratory is an independent organization oriented in both
research and development and the production of chemical vapor deposition products.
The purchase order also specified the following requirements:
1) No porosity or voids after heating to 22000C for one hour
2) Minimum theoretical density, 99 percent
3) Grain size, 1600/square millimeter or finer after a 20000C heat treatment for
4) Chemical purity, 99.9 percent
