In this period, significant progress has been made in the studies of: interactions and reactions of metastable rare gas atoms, and atoms and molecules; the dynamics of collision induced dissociation of diatomic molecules; translational to vibrational rotational energy transfers of linear triatomic molecules by rare gas atoms; scattering of state selected molecules; improvement in the velocity analysis of scattered molecules and the method of atomic beams production; and intramolecular energy transfers and unimolecular decomposition.
