Description

The equations of motion for particles in an accelerator lattice show that a larger physical aperture is required to hold a beam of constant invariant emittance if there is a transverse coupling of the tunes. The results of a tracking simulation of particle motion in the Fermilab accumulator ring are discussed, and results are shown from beam tests carried out in the accumulator to demonstrate this effect.
