Map Showing the Location of Battle Fields of Virginia

Description: Hand-drawn color map of the state of Virginia which shows the location of Civil War battlefields (1861-1865), Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad lines, distinguishing between those which are pre-war and post-war, other railroads during the war, plank roads, turnpikes, other roads and light houses. Bodies of water and geographic features are noted, with relief shown by hachures.

Truncilla macrodon, Specimen #1439

Description: One preserved mussel specimen including both the left and right valves. The specimen exhibits an elliptical shape; white internal coloring; tan external coloring; no external sculpturing. The specimen measures between 0 - 60 mm in length and was assessed to be relatively-recently dead when collected.

[Settlement of claim, May 7, 1891]

Description: Settlement of claim for the service of Hamilton K. Redway during the civil war. As Redway's widow, this notification states that Loriette C. Redway would receive $92.86 and her attorneys, Butts and Philips, would receive $10.31. The total of this settlement was $103.17. The claim payment would be distributed in numerical order according to the settlement number on this notification.

Description: Photograph of students posing on the steps of the Normal Building. Built in 1891, the Normal Building was the first building built on the North Texas Normal College campus, on what is now the corner of Oak and Avenue B. In 1907, the building was struck by lightning and destroyed. The photograph shows the front entrance stairs of the building, with two women and a man seated on the ground in front, and a group of 46 men and women standing on the stairs. Coronis

Description: Libretto of the 1691 "Coronis," a French lyrical genre called pastorale-heroïque, representing the love of nobles or gods often disguised as shepherds (or shepherdesses) in Arcadian settings. Daniel-Paul Chappuzeau de Baugé wrote the libretto and Teobaldo de Gatti composed its music.

Description: Letter from Dinkie McGee to Mary and Charles Moore in which she wrote about the health of her family and the cold weather.
