The Affect of Coping on the Physical and Mental Health of Abused Women

Description: Thesis written by a student in the UNT Honors College discussing the role of coping on the physical and mental health symptoms of women in abusive relationships. It is hypothesized that sustained partner abuse will be associated with mental and physical health symptoms and that coping will mediate these effects. Psychological abuse was found to have the strongest impact on women's physical and mental health.

After-Death Communication: A Typology of Therapeutic Benefits

Description: Using semi-structured interviews, the article assesses the nature of after-death communication (ADC) experience, how participants felt about it, and how it impacted their bereavement. Results revealed that participants were unanimous in believing ADC to be beneficial, and participants experienced three themes: comfort, personal and relational continuation, and personal development.

Brief Report: Induced After-Death Communication: An Update

Description: Abstract: Seventy-one clients (50 females, 21 males) who were treated with Induced After-Death Communication (IADC) therapy completed the author-developed Grief Symptom Questionnaire (GSQ) before and after the two-session treatment protocol and at six months post-treatment. Factor analyses revealed three factors - Depression, Anger, and Positive Coping - underlying nine GSQ items. Cognitive Styles and Aggression in Preschool Children

Description: Thesis written by a student in the UNT Honors College examining aggressive preschool children (27 children between the ages of 4 and 6) and assessing them for similarities in conceptual tempo and field independence/dependence. Findings indicate that aggressive children may have less accurate decision making skills and be more impulsive.

The Corrosion of Various Stainless Steels in Synthetic Waste Solutions

Description: Technical report describing the tests on types 309, 316, and 347 stainless steel. These steels were tested for a total of 779 to 828 hours in three different synthetic waste solutions. Results shoe that the best all-around corrosion resistance to the test conditions was exhibited by 316 stainless steel, but in one solution 347 stainless steel was more resistant. [From Abstract]
