The Relationship between Several Personality Variables and a Proposed Trait Model

Description: This thesis proposes three hypotheses: first, that persons with a high generalized expectancy for internal control of reinforcement will react to many of life's situations in a problem-solving or need-persistent way; second, that those persons high in the belief of external control will be more extra-punitive in their reactions to frustrating situations; third, that persons with a high belief in internal control of reinforcement are more ready to learn in chance situations.

The Draw-A-Person Technique as a Measure of Sexual Conflict

Description: Since much of the existing research which points to the low validity of the Draw-a-Person technique has used differentiation of diagnostic categories as a criterion, this study will be restricted to a consideration of the Draw-a-Person technique as a means for discriminating between a group of individuals who manifest conflicts in the area of sexual adjustment and a control group which does not show these conflicts in any appreciable amount.

Humor Appreciation as a Means of Predicting Creative Individuals

Description: The problem of this thesis is the question of whether appreciation of humor is characteristic of adult creatives. Also, can the humor factor be a significant factor in the prediction of creative individuals? As a consequence of the theory and experimental evidence associated with the relationship between humor and creativity, the following hypothesis is formulated for further study: there is a significantly positive relationship between humor appreciation and creative ability.

Motivational Differences between High and Low Normal Groups

Description: The need for a concise definition of the normal, healthy personality prompted a study of high normal and low normal students enrolled at North Texas State University. Such a definition would facilitate the activities of several areas of applied psychology--psychotherapy, quantification of objective means of rating the general health of an individual's personality, the development of criteria against which to measure the success of mental health clinic programs.
