Description: The "Aligning National Approaches to Digital Preservation" (ANADP) conference was held at the National Library of Estonia, from May 23-25, 2011. More than 125 delegates from more than 20 countries were gathered in Tallinn, Estonia and explored how to create and sustain international collaborations to support the preservation of digital cultural memory. This publication contains a collection of peer-reviewed essays that were developed by conference panels and attendees in the months following ANADP.

Description: This presentation discusses management and curation of Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs). ETDs represent a wealth of scholarly and artistic content created by Master's and Doctoral students in the degree-seeking process. The successful management of ETDs requires effort across the entire lifecycle to ensure that ETDs are preserved and made accessible in a manner that today's users expect. This poses challenges and presents opportunities to those who organize and provide access to ETDs. This presentation will highlight and discuss the early findings of an IMLS-funded project on Lifecycle Management of Electronic Theses and Dissertations. The project aims to enhance ETD curators' and other institutional stakeholders' knowledge and skills, by promoting best practices and creating tools that address specific needs in managing ETDs throughout their life-cycle. The project partners are the University of North Texas (UNT), the Educopia Institute, the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, the Virginia Tech Libraries, Rice University, Boston College, Indiana State University, Penn State University, and the University of Arizona. Description: This is the narrative for a proposal to the Institute of Museum and Library Services' (IMLS) Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program. The proposed initiative's goal is to build capacity in the University of North Texas' (UNT) Library and Information Sciences (LIS) curriculum to increase the number of appropriately trained information professionals and disciplinary researchers and scholars for digital curation and data management responsibilities.

Description: This paper discusses digital curation in the academic library job market. With the increasingly important role librarians play in the fast-paced and data-intensive digital curation movement, there is a need to identify the qualifications and responsibilities expected by employers. An investigation of 110 recent job advertisements was conducted to identify competencies required of individuals working in the digital curation field. The job ads analysis serves as an important indicator of the emerging requirements for a qualified workforce in the field of digital curation in the academic library job market.
