Separation of Tuballoy From Tantalum by Chlorination Distillation Process

Description: Abstract: Tuballoy can be effectively separated from tantalum filaments by chlorination of the filaments and subsequent distillation and condensation of tantalum chloride. Apparatus for chlorination of filaments and distillation separation in one unit is under consideration. Chemical methods of separation of tuballoy from distillation residues are being tested.

Condensation of air in supersonic wind tunnels and its effects on flow about models

Description: Report presenting the results of an investigation of condensation phenomena in supersonic wind tunnel. Lower and upper limits for the degree of supersaturation attainable before the onset of condensation of air are discussed. A method is presented for calculating the properties of a stream containing a small fraction of condensed air.

A Continuously Sensitive Cloud Chamber

Description: A continuous cloud chamber would be a valuable asset to laboratory work in nuclear and atomic physics. For this reason the construction and investigation of a continuously sensitive diffusion cloud chamber has been undertaken. It is the purpose of this paper to report the design and operating characteristics of such a chamber.

Condensation of Metal Vapors: Mercury and the Kinetic Theory of Condensation

Description: Report issued by the Argonne National Laboratory discussing condensation theories of metal vapors. As stated in the introduction, "the objectives of this research then are critical analysis of condensation theories and data for metal vapors and experimental evaluation of the resistance to condensation for a representative metal such as mercury" (p. 18). This report includes tables, illustrations, and photographs.
