Observations on Nuclear RNA During Mitosis in Human Cancer Cells in Culture (HeLa-Sā‚ƒ), Studied with Tritiated Cytidine

Description: Observations on nuclear RNA labeled with HĀ³-cytidine, by autoradiography in the HeLa-Sā‚ƒ cells in interphase and in mitosis led to the following conclusions: 1) RNA synthesis continues in cells in mitosis until late prophase. Most of the labeled RNA in prophase is associated with the chromosomes, and more with the chromosomal surface than the core. Nucleolar labeling amounts to less than 16%. The degree and the pattern of nuclear labeling is similar in early prophase and in interphase. This indiā€¦ more
