Description: Abstract: I describe a near-death experience (NDE) followed by a religious experience 15 years later in which the subject was visited by the same "angel-like" figure that she saw in the NDE. Description: Video recording from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded during "Been There Done That!" featuring Judge Greg Mathis, Fred Hammond, and Phyllis Yvonne Stickney. The production was held on the Naomi Bruton main stage in 2001. The footage shows the gospel music event staged in a courtroom presided over by a judge and angles. The play follows multiple court cases all dealing with right and wrong.

Angels in Near-Death Experiences

Description: Abstract: The literature on near-death experiences (NDEs) contains no substantive discussion of angels in NDEs, even though there are references to angels in several studies of these experiences. In this article I identify angels in NDEs and describe their functions in the NDE based on published NDE accounts. I conclude that angels are personages with whom the NDEr does not usually recall having previous acquaintance. Angels serve as guides, messengers, or escorts in the NDE.
