Measurement of the B+ and B0 Lifetimes With Topological Vertexing at SLD

Description: The lifetimes of the B{sup +} (B{sub u}) and B{sup 0} (B{sub d}) mesons have been measured using a sample of 150,000 hadronic Z{sup 0} decays collected by the SLD experiment at the SLC between 1993 and 1995. The analysis reconstructs the decay length and charge of the B meson using a novel topological technique. This method results in a high statistics sample of 6,033 (3,665) charged (neutral) vertices. The ratio of B{sup +}:B{sup 0} decays in the charged (neutral) sample is 1.8:1 (1:2.3).

Measurement of the Z{sup 0}-Lepton Coupling Asymmetries A{sub l}

Description: The authors present direct measurements of the Z{sup 0}-lepton coupling asymmetries, A{sub e}, A{sub {mu}}, and A{sub {tau}}. It is based on a data sample selected from 170 k Z{sup 0} decays collected by the SLD detector. Preliminary Measurement of Prompt D+- and D*+- Meson Production and D*+- Spin Alignment in Hadronic Z0 Decays

Production of {pi}{sup {+-}}, K{sup {+-}}, K{sup 0}, K*{sup 0}, {phi}, p and {Lambda}{sup 0} in Hadronic Z{sup 0} Decays

TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCE OF TAFEL SLOPE IN THE FORMATION OF VERY THIN ANODIC OXIDE FILMS ON NIOBIUM

Description: A kinetic study was made of the formation of very thin anodic oxide films on niobium at constant current over the temperature range --10 to 70 deg C. Formation voltages were limited to the range below the oxygen evolution potential to eliminate possible interaction of an electronic component of the current with the measured formation field. Search for Horizontal Bosons at the SSC

Description: The production process anti p p ..-->.. l/sup -/l'/sup +/ + X, where the leptons belong to two different generations and X refers to spectator jets, provides a clear signature for horizontal (generation-changing) bosons when the leptons are emitted nearly back-to-back and p/sub T//sup miss/ = 0. Cross sections and p/sub T/ distributions for each lepton are presented, and discovery limits on M/sub H/ are extracted for several different channels.

Hard Scattering And A Diffractive Trigger

Description: Conclusions concerning the properties of hard scattering in diffractively produced systems are summarized. One motivation for studying diffractive hard scattering is to investigate the interface between Regge theory and perturbative QCD. Interpretation of Borehole Tides and Other Elastomechanical Oscillatory Phenomena in Geothermal Systems
