Description: The purpose of this study is to give the common words, together with a collection of old expressions or terms, of the oldest residents of Ellis County and to trace their usage to the states in the Old South. The importance of recording these old words and terms is to preserve the oldest forms of the community for those who are interested in the growth and development of local speech and, also, to trace the history of these words.

Description: The purpose of this study is to determine the soundness of the graduate educational-administration programs in the leading colleges and universities of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, and New Mexico, in the light of criteria derived from psychologies of learning, and the etiologies of desirable traits such as leadership. A second purpose for setting up such criteria is to have a basis from which to draw recommendations and suggestions for improvement.

Description: The purpose of this study is to make a survey of freshman classes in four Texas colleges to determine, in the opinion of first-year college students, the weaknesses in their high-school training that have operated to make their college work more difficult. Three major fields of difficulties -- subject matter of the high schools, the high-school teacher, and the high-school's part in developing habits and influencing students -- were used as a basis for the survey.

The Church and the Segregation Crisis in the South

Although the Supreme Court decision and call for action by the President have produced few revolutionary changes, the churches of the South have taken steps to cope with this problem. The Cherokee Indians in the American Revolution
