Hydrogeochemical investigations in support of well logging operations at the Zunil geothermal field, Guatemala

A suite of 41 thermal and nonthermal waters in the Zunil-Quetzaltenango region, Guatemala, were collected as part of a well logging operation conducted by the Instituto Nacional de Electrificacion (INDE) and Los Alamos National Laboratory. The International Teacher to Teacher Exchange: A Context for Educator Transformation

This study examined how in-service teachers transformed professionally and personally as a result of participation in the International Teacher to Teacher Exchange Program (ITTTE). Guatemalan obsidian source characterization by thermoluminescence

A program was initiated to study the potential of TL measurements for the characterization of obsidian sources from Guatemala. Research to date was intended to answer three questions: (1) Is there intra-source consistency in TL glow curves. (2) Are the glow curves from each source significantly unique to allow discrimination. (3) Can one match artifact glow curves to source glow curves in cases of known provenance. A re-evaluation of the Moyuta geothermal system, Southern Guatemala

Chemical and isotopic data from four fumarole sites combined with prefeasibility assessments obtained in the 1970s have resulted in a re-evaluation of the Moyuta geothermal system. Moyuta consists of an east-west trending complex of Quaternary andesite/dacite domes and flows cut by north-trending faults. Tecuamburro Volcano, Guatemala geothermal gradient core hole drilling, operations, and preliminary results

A geothermal gradient core hole (TCB-1) was drilled to a depth of 700+ m at the Tecuamburro geothermal site, Guatemala during February and March, 1990. The core hole is located low on the northern flank of the Tecuamburro Volcano complex. An evaluation of the geothermal potential of the Tecuamburro Volcano area of Guatemala

Radiometric ages indicate that the Tecuamburro Volcano and three adjacent lava domes grew during the last 38,300 years, and that a 360-m-wide phreatic crater, Laguna Ixpaco, was formed near the base of these domes about 2900 years ago. Laguna Ixpaco is located within the Chupadero crater, from which pyroxene pumice deposits were erupted 38,300 years ago.
