Attenuation of Escherichia Coli Aspartate Transcarbamoylase Expressed in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Mutant and Wild Type Strains

Description: No apparent repression of pyr gene expression in Pseudomonas aeruginosa is observed upon addition of exogenous pyrimidines to the growth medium. Upon introduction of the subcloned Escherichia coli pyrBI genes for aspartate transcarbamoylase (ATCase) into a P. aeruginosa pyrB mutant strain, repression was observed in response to exogenously fed pyrimidine compounds. DNA Databanking: Selected Fourth Amendment Issues and Analysis

Description: This report looks at how the practice of DNA database programs, which have been looked at favorably by Congress, are in possible violation of the Fourth Amendment's prohibition on unreasonable searches and seizures. It looks at how the databases' legality has currently been holding up in court, as well as how new advances and revelations in the science of forensic analysis and databanking may have potentially significant legal implications.

Physical and Functional Characterization of the xy1XYZ Region From TOL Plasmid pDK1 and its Associated Downstream Regulatory Elements

Description: The nucleotide sequence for the pDKl TOL plasmid region encoding toluate-1,2-dioxygenase (Xy1XYZ, TO) was determined. TO is the first enzyme in the meta-cleavage operon, responsible for the conversion of toluates and benzoates to their carboxy-substituted diols. Molecular Phylogeny and Evolution of the American Woodrats, Genus Neotoma (Muridae)

Description: The evolutionary relationships of woodrats (Neotoma) were elulcidated through phylogenetic analyses of mitochondrial DNA restriction site and allozyme data. Final Report on Grant DE-FG02-04ER63801: Damage Recognition, Protein Signaling and Fidelity of Base Excision Repair

Description: Research funded by grant DE-FG02-04ER63801 focused on DNA hydration modeled by classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The most important finding of our research was that oxidation of guanine, a ubiquitous DNA lesion caused by endogenous and environmental oxidative stress, changes DNA hydration in a way that increases the stability of the damage base pair.

A New LC Column for the Separation and the Quantitation of Nucleotides

Description: A new column, Dionex AS4A, (polystyrenedivinylbenzene matrix) used for the separation of ribonucleotides and deoxyribonucleotides for the first time, and previously used for ion analysis was found superior to conventional silica columns because it separates ribonucleotides and deoxyribonucleotides. Applications of Molecular Genetics to Human Identity.
