Physical Properties at Elevated Temperature of Seven Hot-Pressed Ceramics

Description: Report presenting an investigation of seven hot-pressed ceramics for possible gas-turbine application. The properties, short-time tensile strength, thermal-shock resistance, coefficient of liner expansion, and density were determined. The ceramics tested were magnesium oxide, titanium carbide, zirconium carbide, boron carbide, silicon carbide with boron carbide, zircon, and zirconia with lime.

Properties of Tin Oxide: Base Ceramics

Description: From summary: "Various thermal and mechanical properties were measured for sintered tin oxide-matrix compacts which nominally were composed of 99 per cent by weight of tin oxide, SnO2, and one per cent by weight of zinc oxide ZnO...The tin oxide body might be expected to give good service under conditions of severe thermal shock and in an oxidizing atmosphere at temperatures up to 1500°F."

Automatic Thermogravimetric Analysis in Ceramics

Description: Ceramic investigators often find it desirable to know the weight of reactants either immediately after a given heating period or while the specimen is still at the elevated reacting temperature. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Green-State Ceramics

Description: Proton (¹H) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) imaging techniques are investigated as a means to nondestructively characterize green-state (unfired) Si{sub 3}N{sub 4} ceramic components. High Temperature Corrosion of Some Metals and Ceramics in Fluorinating Atmospheres
