U.S. Foreign Assistance and Democracy in Central America: Quantitative Evaluation of U.S. Policy, 1946 Through 1994

Description: U.S. policymakers consistently argue that U.S. security depends on hemispheric democracy. As an instrument of U.S. policy, did foreign assistance promote democracy in Central America, 1946 through 1994? Finding that U.S. foreign assistance directly promoted neither GDP nor democracy in Central America, 1946 through 1994, I conclude that U.S. policy failed consistently in this specific regard.

Genetic Characterization of Central and South American Populations of Scarlet Macaw (Ara macao)

Description: The wild populations of the Scarlet Macaw subspecies native to southern Mexico and Central America, A. m. cyanoptera, have been drastically reduced over the last half century and are now a major concern to local governments and conservation groups. Hurricane Dorian Twitter Dataset

Description: This dataset contains Twitter JSON data for Tweets related to Hurricane Dorian which is the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country's history. This dataset was created using the twarc (https://github.com/DocNow/twarc) package that makes use of Twitter's search API. A total of 3,000,553 Tweets and 84,216 media files make up the combined dataset.
