Advanced Fuel Cell Development Progress Report: April-June 1984

Description: Quarterly report discussing fuel cell research and development work at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). These efforts have been directed toward seeking alternative cathode materials to NiO for molten carbonate fuel cells. Particular emphasis has been placed on studying the relationship between synthesis conditions and the resistivity of doped and undoped LiFeO2 and Li2 MnO3 and on achieving a better understanding of the crystalline defect structures of the thermodynamically stable phases.

Rock Matrix and Fracture Analysis of Flow in Western Tight Gas Sands. Quarterly Technical Progress Report, September--December 1984

Description: The presence of natural fractures is often cited as a key factor in gas production for both fractured and unfractured wells. Numerous vertical fractures have been found in cores recovered in the Multi-Well Project. The cores show that by far the majority of fractures become filled with calcite cement. However, calcite-filled fractures are not necessarily a seal to gas flow. As part of this project, flow measurements are being made along and across selected fractured samples as a function of ove… more

Kinetics and mechanism of catalytic hydroprocessing of components of coal-derived liquids. Twentieth quarterly report, February 16, 1984-May 15, 1984

Description: Kinetics data have been determined for the catalytic hydroprocessing of the acidic fractions of a heavy distillate of a liquid derived from Powhatan No. 5 coal. A commercial, sulfided Ni-Mo/..gamma..-Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/ catalyst was used in the experiments, carried out at 350/sup 0/C and 120 atm with the coal liquid fractions dissolved in cyclohexane. The feed and hydrotreated products were analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The data were analyzed with group-type methods for compou… more
