Toque

Description: Toque of black velvet. The circular, domed crown is of black velvet. The black velvet brim at sides and front folds up around crown, and is gathered ruched/shirred to form horizontal "tucks" around the crown. At front of hat the brim extends somewhat higher than back. At sides and front of hat are black netting veil. Hat is lined in black fabric. Hat has an inner black grosgrain ribbon hatband. There are no designer's, maker's, or retailer's labels in the hat.

Toque

Description: Toque hat of copper brown colored fur felt. Low close brim that narrows towards the back. Around the crown is a wide band of orange satin with four pleats that crosses over at back. Unlined, with copper brown colored grosgrain ribbon headband around inside brim. Label sew to inside headband: "Jan Leslie / Custom Design" Label stamped on inside top: "MONTARA / HB / Made in Italy" (very faded)

Hat

Description: Hat of black velvet. The high, conical crown is designed like a beehive hairdo, with an under-structure of stiffened black net over which is set a black velvet tubular band in an open spiral from the top down. Near top of crown is affixed a small rhinestone set sphere from which hangs a small black cord tassel. Partly overlaid with black net veiling. Hat is unlined, with no labels.

Hat

Description: Hat of deep yellow silk flowers. Formed on a stiffened white mesh, the hat consists of a cylindrical, flat-topped crown surrounded by a narrow brim. The entire surface is covered with small deep yellow silk flowers. The underside of the brim is faced with same flowers, while the crown and inner-most section of the brim are unlined. The crown has an inner off-white grosgrain ribbon hatband. No labels.

Description: Coat of off-white sharkskin canvas in sailor-inspired style. Street length; long sleeves. Sailor collar trimmed with anchor appliqués on collar flap; front lapel. Two pockets with flaps. Blue, red, and gold ribbon trim at cuffs, collar, and pocket flaps. Double-breasted with eight circular brass buttons with cast anchor motifs in front. Half-belt at back waist with two matching buttons.

The Voting Rights Act of 1965, As Amended: Its History and Current Issues

Description: Several bills have been introduced in the 110th Congress concerning the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA) that would rename the short title of the act, and address its bilingual provisions and issues of deceptive practices and voter intimidation during elections. This report discusses this issue at length and also addresses allegations of voting irregularities and of violations of the VRA during the presidential election of 2000.
