Investigation of Microbial Respirometry for Monitoring Natural Sulfide Abatement in Geothermal Cooling Tower Basins

Description: Geothermal plant operators are interested in investigating the ability of micro-organisms found in the cooling tower basin to metabolize and cycle sulfide to less toxic sulfur compounds. Computation of Dancoff Factors for Fuel Elements Incorporating Randomly Packed TRISO Particles

Description: A new method for estimating the Dancoff factors in pebble beds has been developed and implemented within two computer codes. The first of these codes, INTRAPEB, is used to compute Dancoff factors for individual pebbles taking into account the random packing of TRISO particles within the fuel zone of the pebble and explicitly accounting for the finite geometry of the fuel kernels. Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Spray-Formed H13 Steel Tooling

Description: This paper presents results on the microstructure and hardness of spray-formed H13 (Fe-0.40C-5.00Cr-1.10V-1.30Mo (wt%)) tooling. There is very low porosity in both as-spray formed samples and aged samples. The microstructure in the as-spray-formed sample is characterized by primary carbides, acicular lower bainite, and a small amount of martensite and of retained austenite.
