Position-sensitive proportional-counter system for use in the Enge split-pole spectrograph

Description: A variety of position-sensitive single-wire proportional counters with lengths up to 90 cm have been built and tested in the focal plane of the Enge split-pole spectrographs at the Argonne tandem accelerator and cyclotron. This report, which describes the counters, the associated electronics, and the data-handling procedures, is intended as an operating manual for general use of the system.
